OUR MISSION

Women of Woodside, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization comprised of women who are residents of Woodside Plantation or are in the process of building their intended residence.  Our by-laws state the group serves two functions.

Fundraising and Volunteering

Women of Woodside, Inc. endeavors to contribute to the advancement of our community through volunteer services.  W.O.W., Inc. works to accomplish this function through donations, fundraisers, collections of supplies, Holiday gifts to those in need and volunteer work.  Some of our fundraisers include our Holiday Home Tour, Give With Your Heart Drive and the Charity Golf Tournament.
This past year, Women of Woodside, Inc. were able to support many local charities with food, clothes, supplies and over $77,000 in donations.  Some of the organizations who benefited were A.C.T.S., Council on Aging, Child Advocacy Center, Children's Place, Cumbee Center, Helping Hands, Mental Health Association, Salvation Army, SPCA, Tri-Development Center and United Way of Aiken.
As you will see from the listing of volunteer activities found in the front of the Woodside Plantation Resident Directory, there are many opportunities for residents to contribute to the community that we call home.
Residents of Woodside Plantation who need our help are aided by the Welcome and Member Support Committee.  This committee is made up of volunteers who provide needed services such as transportation, errands, respite visits to Woodside residents during emergencies.  It also provides for those with ongoing needs and to see that residents are not forgotten in times when their spirits need lifting.

Residents' Enjoyment

Women of Woodside, Inc. endeavors to enhance the enjoyment of our residents through support of special interest groups and promotion of group activities throughout the year.  W.O.W., Inc. holds its' General Meeting in September, schedules luncheons in October, February and May for all members to enjoy.  For those who like us to cook and/or consume fine food, we offer our Gourmet Group and our Annual Progressive Dinner.  W.O.W., Inc. currently has nine book clubs, bridge groups, Canasta, Hand & Foot, Mah Jongg groups, and active Singles Group, a Garden Club and an Out-to-Lunch Bunch.  W.O.W., Inc. mails out our monthly newsletter, "Plantation News" to keep member informed of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.  You can also visit our website for up-to-date activities at http://womenofwoodside.live.com
